The O'otham circular symbol "Man in the Maze" represents the path of human life—with its many twists and turns—eventually leading to the center and the next life. My multidisciplinary practice takes this symbol into consideration while addressing the complexities of division and fragmentation in my own life. Removed from my Akimel O'otham community, culture, and traditions at birth through adoption and assimilation, I use the tools I've received throughout my life—education and experience—to acknowledge my ancestral inheritance while developing a new visual language. This language expands the understanding of how one makes their way through this life and eventually home. The process is an evolving decolonization exercise, a continuum in which everything—repurposed paintings, treated found objects, assemblage, moving images, sound, performance, and installation—is a constant rethinking, blending, and recovering. My practice is a form of storytelling and healing.

My current project Too Much for My Mirror (Chapter 1) is an evolving multimedia installation, which opened to the public on April 24, 2026 at my project space/studio, Cornelius Projects, in San Pedro, CA. This ongoing installation will develop over the course of the next 6–8 months and includes artist led walk throughs and intermittent improvisational performance pieces with the intention of creating a theater piece.
